Almost everyone in the United States has been impacted by breast cancer in one way or another, making access to information about this disease more important than ever.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) is a national education and support organization for women and men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer — as well as their support network and care providers. Our goal in working with them was not only to create an updated, modern website design, but also a multi-faceted and unique presentation of their vast collection of content and offerings, organized and easily searchable by both topic and audience. In the end, we created an aesthetically pleasing new site with a vibrant color palette that makes their trusted information and community of support easier to find for those who need it most.
With broad-spectrum content that spans everything from articles and newsletters to publications, podcasts, transcripts, conferences, webinars, community programs, grants, user-submitted tips, and a telephone helpline, we immediately recognized the need for creating multiple avenues for viewers to easily discover and access relevant content.
Rather than force visitors to seek out individual sections of the site organized by content type, we created a variety of advanced search capabilities that delivers to them the most relevant related content, with various tools for accessing additional associated information. For example, those searching for a topic like “lymphedema” will receive results containing the key site content that has been determined by LBBC to be the best place to start for that subject, with the option to quickly and easily delve deeper and learn more. This streamlined navigation provides a clear path to LBBC’s content in a manner that seamlessly scales with future growth of the site.

To assist newly diagnosed patients, in particular, glossary terms within the content are conveniently highlighted with definitions available via hover — a feature that is automatic and easy for LBBC to maintain.
In addition, we created complex event pages that support media files highlighting past events, such as podcast recordings and videos, which are also easily found when searched by audience or topic, rather than hidden behind an event archive.

Finally, we incorporated a great number of flexible tools throughout the site that can be leveraged for promotion of content or calls to action, including specialized homepage and landing page callouts, flexible page-specific callouts, and site-wide ad support.
