When done right, characters bring brands to life, while endearing businesses to their clients — and they provide endless opportunity for engagement, particularly in social media marketing channels. Think the Lacoste alligator, the Ralph Lauren polo horse, the Burberry equestrian knight, and the Starbucks mermaid.
“We’re all susceptible to their lure. They infiltrate our subconsciousness, colonize our homes, and supply us with everything from food to footwear, and in return we become loyal devotees.”
We recently enjoyed reworking the brand character for The Leopard Room, an upscale private supper and jazz club at The Prime Rib, a steakhouse in Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. Because The Leopard Room is all about swanky throwback ambience, with its leopard dining room rug and vintage Art Deco décor, we streamlined the look of their mascot, an illustrated feline serving a martini. In the end, this sophisticated new leopard gives an upscale feel to the club's posters and print advertisements.
